In harmony with technology, culture is the core factor for those countries, whose development has been mainly driven by manufacturing, to grow into developed ones, and also an essential element for S. Korea to step up in the world through preparation. To realize it, it is necessary to tap into a new area where culture and arts not only flourish but mingle with technology and engineering.
The convergence of culture and arts, humanities, and science and technology and the optimal realization of its output enrich human life mentally and materially. The series of such works is defined here as Culture Engineering (CE). We aim to realize technology necessary for the development of cultural industry and establish cultural ecology to make it more realistic and concrete.
The Institute divides CT areas into three sectors: life-based, tradition-based, and IT-based. Then we apply CE concept to the outcome of each sector and attempt to make a groundwork for cultural prosperity in which everyone can enjoy culture and technology together while growing. Our core attention lies in realizing technology by applying it to culture and arts and humanities, going beyond its mere development, and helping end users - 'humans' - enjoy it.
